Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch has announced the featured speakers for the 2020 Postbaccalaureate Premedical Class Day ceremony. The Class Day Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Alwyn Cohall. The Class Day Student Speaker will be Christopher DeVita.

Karianne Weber '21, a current student in the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program, reflects on her current experience working as a nurse caring for patients with COVID-19 on the frontlines in New Jersey, and shares how she and her colleagues have gotten creative with delivering care to their patients while reducing their risk of exposure.

Students applying for institutional financial aid for the 2020-2021 academic year are advised to submit all of the required forms as soon as possible, and no later than Friday, May 1.

Many graduate programs pushed back their application deadlines. Students are invited to check the following list to ensure their respective program deadline has not passed.

As an increasing number of medical doctors turn toward specialization and away from general care, the U.S. faces a pending shortage of physicians. Three GS students found friendship in a shared goal of pursuing careers in healthcare, and are now enrolled in programs to become nurse practitioners during a time when their services are needed more than ever.

On April 14, 2020, Dean James Colgrove sent the following message to Postbac Premed students regarding a new linkage program agreement between the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program and University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The Columbia University Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program and the University of Rochester have formed a new linkage program agreement that will provide top-performing students with the opportunity to expedite their application to pursue a medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. The new agreement adds to a portfolio that now includes 16 linkage programs available to Postbac Premed Program students.

Students are reminded to log into SSOL and ensure their current local mailing address, phone number, as well as the information for their emergency contact ("Emergency Address") is up to date.

Students are invited to participate in the Premedical Association (PMA) Executive Board election as a candidate and/or a voter. The PMA, which is made up of Postbac Premed Program and GS undergraduate students pursuing premedical coursework, works closely with the premedical advisors to build a supportive community.
