PMA to Host Annual Medical School Fair in February

January 27, 2020

The 2020 Columbia University Medical School Fair is just around the corner and pre-medical students are looking forward to the opportunities this year's event will offer. The fair will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Roone Arledge Auditorium in Lerner Hall. Based on previous year's turnouts, organizers anticipate over 500 students from Columbia and Barnard to attend, in addition to students from Hunter College, City College of New York, and Yeshiva University.

This year, over 50 medical schools from the United States and abroad will be represented. Organized by the Premedical Association (PMA) and the Columbia University Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program, the Medical School Fair is an opportunity for pre-med students to meet with admissions representatives, and participate in a variety of breakout sessions.

Each year, the Admissions Dean Panel is one of the most popular events. The panel will bring together admissions deans from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, University of Rochester Medical School, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and Duke University Medical School. Panelists will offer insight on the medical school application process and will be available to answer questions from students.

Throughout the afternoon, Break-Out Sessions will be offered covering a variety of topics that focus on admission to health professional schools. Break-out session topics include AAMC Financing Medical Education and Osteopathic Medicine Panel. Further broadening the scope of participation, the fair will feature schools from outside of the United States, in addition to representatives from dentistry and veterinary programs. This year's Medical School Fair promises to be a crucial component for premedical students at Columbia making long-term academic and professional decisions.
