As a part of Student Veterans of America's participation, six Columbia University student and alumni veterans—GS students Jake Bullock, Toby Goldstein, Nick Lozano, Jose Rodriquez, and Michael Sotalin, along with Columbia College alumnus and SVA board member Peter Meijer '12—will ring the NASDAQ Closing Bell on July 3 at 1 p.m. ET. The market will close early Tuesday in observance of Independence Day.

Meijer, who will give a few remarks before the closing bell, said this honor was bestowed primarily because of the close relationship between Student Veterans of America and Veterans on Wall Street, a cooperative effort with financial firms to increase the number of veterans working in the financial sector.

"SVA's participation in this event highlights the success our organization has had building a strong network of support for veterans education. It is a testament to the fact that SVA's reach extends beyond campuses and into career fields that will ensure veterans' future successes," Meijer said.

Columbia student and alumni veterans will help close the market before the holiday alongside eight other veterans representing the SVA chapters at New York University and the City College of New York. Columbia University is one of SVA's more than 500 chapter schools.
