Over the summer, students at Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA were required to read Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder. The book tells the story of Deogratias "Deo" Niyizonkiza ’01 who escaped from Burundi to the United States. Niyizonkiza traveled to the school to have lunch with a small group of students to speak about the tribal animosity in Burundi. He has established a nonprofit known as Village Health Works aimed at improving the lives of those in Burundi. The nonprofit has 265 employees.
