Bukhari’s study of dance is based on a long commitment to the field of dance performance. At a young age, Bukhari knew he wanted to be a dancer and received a full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School, moving to New York City at the age of 18. This move launched a career that included dancing with the Joffrey Ballet and Zurich Ballet of Switzerland, as well as working as a freelance choreographer in Germany.
After 15 years in the industry, Bukhari proposed to his wife and moved back to New York City to be with her. Shortly thereafter, he applied and was accepted to the School of General Studies to begin study in the spring of 2007, which fulfilled his lifelong dream of attending college. As a part-time student, Bukhari completed a B.A. in cultural anthropology and aesthetics, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude and as a member of the GS Honor Society.
Bukhari hopes to one day teach at the university level.
