With the expansion of the General Studies New Student Orientation program, more alumni are coming back to campus to welcome incoming students. This fall alumni participated in five different events.

August 30, 2013

Christopher Riano ’07 began Orientation Week by making welcome remarks during the opening ceremony. He also moderated a panel the following day with five other alumni—Sheridan Gayer ’04, Aries Dela Cruz ’09, Jaysen Medhurst ’06, Elizabeth Hollister ’07, and Jessica Thompson ’07—who shared their GS experiences and the different activities that contributed to their success on campus.

Elle Littlefield ’12 presented a workshop entitled "Recruiting Insights" that discussed how to navigate the recruiting process and position oneself for success during and after their time as a GS student. Added to the slate of events this year was a half-day program for incoming international students. Metodi Lazarov ’12, Dalibor Plavsic ’03, and Wojtek Skrzypczak ’13 attended the special luncheon to welcome the new students from around the globe.

The week ended with the Alumni Veteran Lunch and Panel Discussion moderated by Azar Boehm ’12. Joining him were Robert Chao ’10, Kevin Eick ’13, Nick Lozano ’13, Jacob Serra ’13, and Richie Space ’05, who discussed their transition from the military to campus, the veteran community at Columbia, and advice on professional recruiting.

The GS Office of Alumni Relations extends special thanks to these alumni.
