A sophomore in the Dual BA Program Between Columbia University and Sciences Po, Anaïs Taffin ‘28GS, who studies sustainable development and political science, has been recognized by the Udall Foundation for her strong commitment to environmental protection and policy was recently named a 2026-2027 Udall Undergraduate Scholar.
Originally from San Francisco, California, Taffin combines her academic studies with professional, hands-on experience, including designing and leading a climate and sustainability education program with the Académie de Reims and working within regenerative agriculture at Sintropia Temperada in Portugal. She is active in environmental advocacy in both Europe and the USA, and has contributed to initiatives and events through her roles with Alternatives and the Sciences Po Environment Association, and previously supporting environmental communication efforts with Matter of Trust.
“I first found out about the Udall Undergraduate Scholarship when searching for scholarships in the environmental policy domain as that’s what I hope to pursue professionally in the future,” Taffin shared.
Looking ahead, Taffin plans to continue to contribute to the development of environmental policies that support sustainable transitions and protect biodiversity, at both local and global levels. “The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship will help me achieve my goals by helping finance my undergraduate degree in sustainable development at Columbia University where I’ll be able to further my interest and passion for sustainability and implementing climate mitigation solutions. Receiving this scholarship will allow me to spend more time and energy volunteering and working with motivated people who also want to act to preserve and protect the environment. It will also connect me with a network of driven and inspiring people with whom I hope to lead the environmental change our planet needs,” she said.
The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship is a prestigious national award that recognizes university sophomores and juniors committed to careers in environmental fields, Tribal public policy, or Native health care. Established by the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation, the program supports students who demonstrate leadership, public service, and a strong commitment to issues of national importance. In addition to financial support, scholars gain access to a network of professionals and a multi-day orientation focused on collaboration and leadership development.
This year, the Udall Foundation awarded scholarships to 65 sophomores and juniors from 49 colleges and universities across the United States.
