Science Foundations Summer Bridge Program Interest Form

Columbia GS recognizes the essential need to increase the diversity of STEM and health professions, and is committed to providing access to preparation to students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in these fields. To further this commitment to access and diversity, this summer the School of General Studies is happy to offer a Science Foundations Summer Bridge Program. The goal of this program is to support students who identify as being from groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM and medicine in making the transition to Columbia and establishing a strong foundation for success. The program includes peer-led community-building events alongside workshops and discussions on navigating STEM and careers in medicine as a member of an underrepresented community.

As part of this initiative, we are offering a limited number of incoming GS undergraduate and Postbac Premed students who identify as being from backgrounds underrepresented in STEM and medicine the opportunity to take summer STEM preparatory courses free of charge.

To be considered for tuition-free participation, students are invited to submit a brief form and diversity statement explaining their fit for the Science Foundations Summer Bridge Program and outlining which of the preparatory classes they are interested in taking. Students are not required to take all four prep courses to be eligible to participate. The deadline to submit the interest form and diversity statement is Friday, April 28. While all eligible admitted students may apply, only students who have submitted their acceptance reply form and tuition deposit will be considered for the Program. Please note that if you intend to take summer courses, you should submit your required immunization documents immediately in order to be able to register and begin classes on time.
