Position Description
The Managing Obesity Through Innovation and Effectiveness (MOTIVATE) Laboratory at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking bright, motivated research interns interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and obesity-related research to assist in research projects at NYU Langone to improve the treatment of obesity in primary care.

The MOTIVATE Lab is a federally-funded research lab running studies investigating weight management strategies in largely underserved populations. Research interns may have the opportunity to be authors on abstracts and manuscripts, depending on involvement with preparation. Upon completion of the internship, research interns can fulfill practicum requirements, gain academic credit, and/or receive letters of recommendation for graduate school and job placement.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting literature searches
  • Recruiting patients/subjects in person, by phone and/or mail, performing study visits
  • Piloting materials in primary care, data analysis, abstract and manuscript preparation
  • Performing administrative duties

Position Requirements

  • Applicant must be a current U.S. citizen

Time Commitment
Part-time, 10-15 hours on average required per week including weekly research team meetings currently held on Mondays at 1 p.m. Applicants must be able to commit to one year, including availability during the summer.
