Delirium Program, Mount Sinai Morningside
Position Description
The Mount Sinai Health System operates a novel program to identify and treat hospital delirium in ways unique to other hospital delirium programs in the country. Delirium is a rapid change in mental abilities; acute confusion is manifested by disorientation, memory impairments, attention impairments, and loss of ability to recognize family members and friends. The Delirium Program is seeking volunteers to provide non-medical assistance and gain one patient experience in medical and surgical unit settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing non-medical interventions to promote cognitive stimulation, reorient to the environment, and increase mobility
- Serving as part of a team to treat active cases of delirium
- Preventing delirium in high-risk cases.
Position Requirements
- Minimum age of 18
- Spanish speaking skills a plus
