Position Description
The Columbia University Medical Center/Presbyterian Hospital Division of Neurocritical Care within the Department of Neurology is seeking a student to join their team as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC), Variable Hours Officer (VHO).

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and conducting research protocols in a manner that ensures quality, consistency, timeliness, accuracy and patient safety.
  • Confirming qualified potential subjects for the clinical research study assigned as outlined in IRB approval protocols and performing study procedures; CRC will work with study physician on call (POC) to confirm subject eligibility. Upon confirmation CRC will come on-site (within 30 minutes of confirming) to assist in protocol specific procedures.
  • Following protocol specific time line and procedures for subjects who are active in a NeuroICU clinical research trial.
  • Becoming thoroughly familiar with the protocol, case report form, informed consent, source documentation, and study medication(s) for the assigned research study.
  • Working in conjunction with hospital clinical staff and communication with the treating teams.
  • Performing appropriate research protocol procedures which may include, but are not limited to: ensuring that all required physiological assessments and recordings are being completed/collected (i.e., vital signs, pregnancy tests, radiological tests, ECGs, etc); all study related specimen processing & storage, and acute stroke assessments.
  • Performing basic lab procedures, such as: specimen processing as per study protocol, centrifuge operation, storing of lab specimens, accountability of specimens.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required, plus 2 years related experience.
  • Degree in a health-related field or some health related experience is a plus.
  • Health Sciences/Clinical/Research experience a plus.

Time Commitment
Part-time, with 10 hours per week.
