Position Description
The Lang Youth Medical Program is looking for Youth Educators to join their team and motivate youth from the community to realize their college and career aspirations in the health sciences through hands-on learning at a world-renown academic medical center.

The Lang Youth Medical Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is a six-year, health science enrichment and college preparation program for talented youth representing the diversity of the Washington Heights and Inwood communities. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the program’s curriculum and supervising Lang Youth Scholars.
  • Teaching lessons and adapting classroom activities to the needs of each team.
  • Supervising extracurricular activities, and supporting administrative responsibilities.
  • Assessing and documenting student progress, and participating in feedback sessions.
  • Managing the classroom and ensuring students follow NYP and Lang Youth policies.

Position Requirements

  • Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
  • Experience in science/health related fields.
  • Prior experience teaching and managing a classroom.
  • Prior experience working with adolescents.
  • Ability to modify curriculum and lead engaging lessons.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team to plan/facilitate lessons and activities.

Time Commitment
Part-time, with a commitment to complete the Academic Year Program on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting September 2023 through June 2024. There is a Tentative Program Retreat (extended hours) on November 11 and days off on holiday weekends and NYC DOE breaks.

Compensation
$23 per hour
