Position Description
The Reya Lab at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a student to join their lab. Research in the lab focuses on the molecular and cellular basis of cancer growth and therapy resistance, especially as it relates to pancreatic cancer and leukemia. The position provides an opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge cancer research and work closely with a team of experienced scientists.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing genotyping using PCR
  • Helping with cancer models
  • Maintaining laboratory supplies
  • Preparing buffers
  • Learning and practicing routine molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Assisting lab staff or managers when needed

Position Requirements

  • Biology major or similar field
  • Comfortable working with animal models in a laboratory setting
  • Must have a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Must be willing to learn additional duties as necessary
  • Must display an interest in performing primary research
  • Previous experience performing PCR a plus
  • Experience in lab-based research a plus

Time Commitment
Part-time (12 hours per week)
