Position Description 
Adam Wang is an MD-PhD student currently working in the laboratory of Jeffrey Friedman at Rockefeller University. Adam is looking for a freshman/sophomore undergraduate to assist with research.

The focus of the lab is on neuroscience and obesity, stemming from Dr. Friedman’s textbook discovery of the hormone leptin in 1994. Adam studies how obesity increases the risk of a host of pathologies from viral infection (influenza/SARS-CoV-2) to cancer.

Undergraduate Research Volunteers will receive extensive lab experience (performing a wide range of experiments with cell lines and mouse models), inclusion as co-author on any resulting publications, longitudinal mentorship (general academic advice, advice on med/grad school applications etc.), and (with time) a letter of recommendation from Dr. Friedman who is one of the world’s foremost experts on the biology of obesity and neuroscience of feeding behavior.

Position Requirements: 

  • Majoring in biology or a related field is a plus
  • Interested in medical/graduate school is a plus
  • Looking for a longitudinal wet lab research experience (over multiple school years, summers) is a plus
  • Previous research experience is a plus
