Position Description
The Thaker Lab in the Columbia University Department of Pediatrics and Division of Molecular Genetics is seeking a full-time technician A to provide research assistance for a study investigating molecular genetics of weight regulation. The candidate will work closely with all team members and the other members of the Division of Molecular Genetics. Opportunities to have independent projects and publications are possible based on interest.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing basic molecular genetics bench work including DNA extraction, RT-PCR, sanger sequencing, and western blot
  • Undertaking animal studies including measuring weight, length, and body composition and testing for glucose tolerance

  • Overseeing therapeutics studies in animals

Position Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
