The Maciejowski Lab, Sloan Kettering Institute Molecular Biology Department
Position Description
The Genome Integrity & Innate Immunity Group led by John Maciejowski is seeking a research technician to study immune responses to chromosomal instability. The Maciejowski Lab studies how nuclear envelope instability initiates innate immune responses and DNA damage.
Parallel work in the lab investigates the APOBEC3 family of cytosine deaminases, which are major, endogenous sources of cancer mutagenesis. Current work seeks to understand the mechanisms underlying DNA damage at sites of nuclear envelope rupture and APOBEC3 activation in cancer. The lab approaches these questions using multidisciplinary techniques including state-of-the-art imaging, genomics, and gene editing in mammalian cell culture systems. The long-term goals of our work are to obtain fundamental insights into cancer genome evolution.
Position Requirements
- Strong academic background and prior experience in a molecular biology lab
- Use of tissue culture models and/or gene editing a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a commitment of two years a plus
Compensation
$22–$33 per hour with 50% increase for overtime pay; opportunity for pay increase with experience
