Position Description
The Hong Laboratory is searching for a data science research specialist to join their team. The Hong lab is part of both the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute and the UCSF-UC Berkeley Joint Program in Computational Precision Health.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing informatics research to develop computational tools and analyses related to personalized oncology care
- Managing data
- Implementing and programming computational tools including machine learning/deep learning algorithms
- Participating in lab meetings
- Conducting data analyses and preparing for presentations at lab meeting and journal club
Position Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, computational biology, mathematics, or a related quantitative/scientific discipline (by time of hire)
- Strong programming skills, with a preference for experience in Python, R, and/or SQL
- Experience with data science, machine learning, and/or natural language processing a plus
- Experience developing experimental and analytical plans a plus
- Prior research experience a plus
