Position Description
The laboratory of Dr. Gary Struhl at the Columbia Zuckerman Institute is seeking a motivated recent graduate to continue work for a research project which investigates the mystery of the basic mechanism of Wnt signal transduction. This position qualifies for support by the National Institute of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences Diversity Supplement Program, or another similar funding source, which is a competitive funding program designed to train future physician scientists from underrepresented groups in science.

At the technological level, the student fulfilling this position would have the chance to learn cutting edge techniques in molecular biology, including CRISPR/Cas-9 technology, recombinant DNA engineering, confocal microscopy, and the molecular analysis of gene function in vivo. Dr. Gary Struhl is hands-on and regularly works at the bench so the student would benefit from close mentorship by a respected leader in the fields of genetics and development. Lastly, the Zuckerman Institute boasts a wide array of events and seminars to enhance the student’s professional/academic career.
