Position Description
The research laboratory of Dr. Nathaniel Landau at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking to fill a research assistant position in HIV and SARS-COV-2 virology and immunology. The candidate will join the research laboratory to investigate innate and adaptive immune responses to HIV infection and new approaches to therapy for SARS-CoV-2.

The successful candidate will join an interactive group of talented scientists, participate in research meetings, and have the opportunity for co-authorship in high-impact scientific publications.

Responsibilities Include

  • Tissue culture, flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and construction of plasmid vectors
  • Preparing RNA and plasmid DNA
  • Overseeing immunofluorescence, PCR testing, western blotting, and transfection and genetic manipulation of mice
  • Managing the laboratory, including ordering supplies, stocking reagents, and maintaining lab databases

Position Requirements

  • B.S. in molecular biology or a related subject
  • Laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology
  • Experience in tissue culture
  • Ability to multitask and take initiative
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Time Commitment
Full-time, with a preferred two year commitment 

Compensation
$43,800-$45,552
