Position Description
The Orthopaedic and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research (OrACORe) and the Policy and Innovation eValuation in Orthopaedic Treatments (PIVOT) Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join their multidisciplinary health policy and clinical outcomes research team. The Center faculty are dedicated to mentoring Research Assistants as they plan careers in medicine, public health, health policy, and related disciplines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with investigators to facilitate and conduct health policy and medical decision-making analyses using computer simulation models
  • Conducting literature reviews on relevant research topics
  • Summarizing data and generating reports; presenting findings at weekly and monthly meetings
  • Participating in model development, refinement, and debugging, including collaborating with the model developer
  • Assisting in the preparation of research documents, presentations, grant proposals, manuscripts, and journal articles
  • Corresponding with and preparing materials for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for protocol amendments, consent form changes, and annual reports
  • Scheduling and completing in-person study visits and performing musculoskeletal-based physical examinations and tests for clinical studies
  • Performing electronic medical record reviews
  • Performing data quality control and organizing study data
  • Assisting with study coordination of multi-center clinical trials
  • preparing for/performing site visits and training and certifying study staff in the collection of standardized data elements
  • Assisting with protocol development and the creation of related materials including standard operating procedures (SOPs), case report forms, and manuals of operations (MOOPs)
  • Assisting with the development of data systems
  • Attending and leading regularly scheduled project-specific and group-wide meetings
  • Performing administrative duties, such as preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong quantitative background
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prior research experience a plus
  • Interest in medicine, epidemiology, health policy, biostatistics, economics, mathematics, and/or computer programming
