Position Description
The neurology department of the James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to provide administrative and scientific support for a clinical research study of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. This is a full-time position with a generous federal benefits package. The position requires regular on-site work, but a partial remote option may be available.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Screening and recruitment of potential research participants, scheduling research appointments, and obtaining informed consent
  • Checking vital signs and administering research questionnaires
  • Collecting and shipping blood or other biological samples (training will be provided)
  • Extracting clinical data from the electronic medical record
  • Entering data into a research database (REDCap)
  • Assisting with IRB and other regulatory paperwork and submissionsInterfacing with clinicians and research scientists at VA sites and Mount Sinai Hospital
  • Preparing of reports for statistical analysis and publication

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Interest or experience in neurology/neuroscience, medicine, psychology, or clinical research
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records or research databases such as REDCap a plus
  • Experience with IRB protocol submission and HIPAA regulations a plus
  • Prior experience with administration of research questionnaires a plus
