Position Description
The neurology department of the James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to provide administrative and scientific support for a clinical research study of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. This is a full-time position with a generous federal benefits package. The position requires regular on-site work, but a partial remote option may be available.
Responsibilities include:
- Screening and recruitment of potential research participants, scheduling research appointments, and obtaining informed consent
- Checking vital signs and administering research questionnaires
- Collecting and shipping blood or other biological samples (training will be provided)
- Extracting clinical data from the electronic medical record
- Entering data into a research database (REDCap)
- Assisting with IRB and other regulatory paperwork and submissionsInterfacing with clinicians and research scientists at VA sites and Mount Sinai Hospital
- Preparing of reports for statistical analysis and publication
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Interest or experience in neurology/neuroscience, medicine, psychology, or clinical research
- Familiarity with electronic medical records or research databases such as REDCap a plus
- Experience with IRB protocol submission and HIPAA regulations a plus
- Prior experience with administration of research questionnaires a plus
