Position Description
The Department of Infectious Diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY is seeking a grants coordinator to join their team. This individual will work closely with Dr. Christina Coyle, an expert in tropical medicine who has been practicing for over twenty years. Dr. Coyle is the PI on various grants funded by the Centers for Disease Control that focus on malaria and IV artesunate, Chagas disease, and COVID-19. These grants aim to reduce the burden of these diseases by partnering with community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, and other local leaders to conduct outreach that educates at-risk community members and helps connect them to care.

The Grants Coordinator will oversee grant activities and perform administrative duties while gaining invaluable experience working on public-health-related projects with the Bronx Latinx and West African communities. This individual would attend outreach events, meet regularly with an advisory board of local leaders, and coordinate various projects and educational sessions with other physicians. The Grants Coordinator would have the opportunity to volunteer, shadow, and conduct research on neglected tropical infections with Dr. Coyle in the Parasitology Clinic at Jacobi Medical Center, one of the most renowned parasitology centers in the Northeast region of the United States.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate development of accessible educational materials for community outreach and provide at-risk patients with information
  • Schedule and attend regular meetings with community-based and/or provider partnerships for facilitation of grant activities, prepare meeting agendas and minutes for the PI
  • Organize and maintain financial data as it pertains to the grant
  • Coordinate materials for dissemination among hospitals (Screening criteria, diagnostic practices, etc.)
  • Prepare presentations on grant deliverables
  • Book venues, create and send invitations, and coordinate details of outreach events, educational symposiums, and other teaching sessions at local organizations

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Pre-health or public health curriculum a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. May use other web-based programs as assigned
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, initiative, communication, and attention to detail
  • Employee may work weekends and/or evenings depending on preference/flexibility
