Position Description
The Columbia University Lupus Center is seeking a motivated individual interested in health sciences who is looking to spend at least two years gaining work experience in the medical field. This person will serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Lupus Center at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center located in Manhattan's Washington Heights. The individual will participate in the coordination of the clinical studies and will work closely with other research, clinical and administrative staff. The position will also involve scientific writing and administrative responsibilities. The Clinical Research Coordinator may formulate their own research question and serve as first author and/or co-author on other collaborative publications. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing data
  • Working directly under the supervision of the principal investigator and attending rheumatologists and fellows at the Division of Rheumatology to coordinate several clinical research studies
  • Screening and coordinating patient involvement and participating in clinical trials
  • Following patient health status through the studies
  • Maintaining accurate case report forms and ensuring protocol complicance
  • Resolving data queries
  • Collecting data from patients' medical charts and entering clinicopathological data, biospecimen information, and following up information into a virtual network system
  • Formulating an original research question and preparing manuscript submission as first author and/or co-author to a peer-reviewed scientific journal
  • Administrative responsibilities 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong science background
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Interest and prior experience working with patients
  • Strong computer skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
