Position Description
Dr. Teena Shetty, Neurologist at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, is looking for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator to work in the Neurology Department at HSS. He or she would be involved in a number of concussion-related research projects, and would be heavily involved in all aspects of the research lifecycle, including clinical trial studies in development. Opportunity to work directly with patients, and closely with a multidisciplinary concussion team. Potential to be involved in the publication of journal articles.
Responsibilities include:
- Patient screening and recruitment into clinical trials
- Consenting patients who are interested in participating in research
- Administering neurocognitive assessments to concussion patients
- Patient scheduling and follow-up
- Coordinating with research sponsors and other sites for multi-center studies
- Manuscript editing and preparation
- Writing and updating IRB protocols
- Assisting in the preparation of research presentations
Position Requirements
The qualified applicant will have a Bachelor's Degree in arts or science (BA or BS), but most importantly, a strong interest in medicine and gaining skills in clinical research and direct patient contact. We also prefer that applicants have a familiarity with clinical data and statistical analysis. We are looking for a highly competent, organized, meticulous, hard-working, and personable candidate to fill this position. We also prefer that applicants have strong writing skills, can maintain a high level of professionalism, and are comfortable working with patients and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who plan to apply to medical school, but we are also open to other qualified individuals interested in healthcare and/or clinical research.
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a two-year commitment.
