Position Description
The Mary Kirkland Center for Lupus Research at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) on the Upper East Side of New York City is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to join their team starting in May/June 2023.
The coordinator will be responsible for the clinical research projects of the Physician-in-Chief Emeritus Dr. Mary K Crow and the clinical trials of the Lupus Clinic Co-Chief Dr. Kyriakos Kirou, both of whom study the diseases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus) and lupus nephritis.
Responsibilities include:
- Screening and consenting patients
- Recruiting for clinical trials
- Collecting and organizing patient data
- Managing regulatory data
- Submitting reports to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Managing patient samples
- Interacting with pharmaceutical representatives to coordinate industry-sponsored clinical trials
- Interacting with patients, nurses, and physicians to identify patients suitable for research studies and to manage ongoing projects
- Processing of patient samples such as venipuncture, centrifuging, pipetting, and aliquoting
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Background in a science or health-related field is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience with data management, lab work, logistical management and/or patient interaction is a plus
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and data entry
Time Commitment
Full-time (40 hours per week), with a minimum commitment of 2 years.
