Position Description
The Mary Kirkland Center for Lupus Research at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator starting in May/June 2020. The coordinator will be responsible for both the clinical research projects of the physician-in-chief (Dr. Mary K Crow) and the clinical trials of the co-director of the Center (Dr. Kyriakos Kirou), both of whom study the diseases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus) and lupus nephritis.
Responsibilities include:
- Patient screening and recruitment into clinical trials
- Collecting and organizing patient data
- Managing regulatory data
- Submitting reports to the Institutional Review Board
- Patient sample management in a general data base
- Interacting with pharmaceutical representatives to coordinate industry-sponsored clinical trials
- Working closely with nurses and physicians to identify patients suitable for research studies
- Managing ongoing projects
- Processing of blood samples
Position Requirements:
- Background in a science or health-related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with Word, Excel and data entry
- Previous experience with data management, lab work, logistical management and/or patient interaction a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time (40 hours per week), with a minimum commitment of two years preferred, starting May/June 2020.
