Position Description
Dr. Sariah Khormaee, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at (HSS), is hiring an assistant for a one year position. The successful applicant will work as an integral member of Dr. Khormaee's clinical and research team, helping to guide new and existing patients through their spine care with Dr. Khormaee by acting as the primary point of contact for patients. This role provides a comprehensive, rewarding experience in both high-quality patient care and spine surgery research, particularly for students interested in academic careers in orthopedic surgery that combine clinical practice with research.
Responsibilities Include:
- Answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and following up on requests and questions
- Interacting with offices and departments around the hospital and acting as an ambassador for Dr. Khormaee's practice
- Assisting in scribing during office visits
- Performing research in the lab, contributing to and helping develop various interdisciplinary projects
- Engaging heavily in publication and grant writing, acting as a key contributor in projects and as a contributing author on multiple papers
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Interest in spine care, surgery, research
- 1-2 years patient interaction/clinical experiences a plus
- Strong statistics background a plus
- Prior publication record a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time, one-year commitment
Compensation
$55K per year
