Resident Advisors

Resident Advisors

The GS Resident Advisors (RAs) provide support to all GS students living in University Apartment Housing. RAs help facilitate a positive living and academic environment through the following initiatives:

  • Serving as a peer resource for residents
  • Developing a sense of community among residents
  • Building relationships with the residents in the community
  • Assisting residents in developing relationships with each other
  • Educating residents on the policies and procedures of GS Housing and University Apartment Housing (UAH)
  • Holding residents accountable for their behavior
  • Promoting student involvement in University activities
  • Helping to facilitate an environment that fosters academic success
  • Providing helping skills for residents in need

Meet the Resident Advisors

As your RAs, we are your resource to help manage housing concerns like roommate issues and facilities questions, as well as to help you better navigate Columbia and New York City. Please feel free to send us an email to learn more about monthly resident events or just to say hi.

Joshua Rivers
My name is Joshua Rivers and I am one of the GS Resident Advisors for the 2017-2018 academic year. I am currently in my second year at GS studying financial economics and statistics. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, lifting weights, reading, and long walks at sunset. Before coming to GS, I managed an athletic performance business for nine years. During those nine years, I realized my passion in helping people achieve goals they set for themselves. This realization led me to Columbia, where I could achieve some of my own goals. I am here to assist you in any capacity my abilities allow.

Michael Price
My name is Michael Anthony Price and I am one of the GS Resident Advisors for the 2017-2018 academic year. To give you a little background on me, I am a mixed race Puerto Rican and Black male and a first generation college student. I hail from Jersey City, New Jersey—a hop, skip, and jump across the Hudson River. I enjoy playing sports, meeting new people, and traveling the world. I am an ethnicity and race studies major with a concentration in pre-medical studies. I am very involved in many organizations on campus and passionate about enriching the nontraditional student experience at Columbia University. I look forward to meeting you and building an inclusive and welcoming community to enjoy during your time at GS.
