GS Students Attend Pre-Screening of "The Report"

October 09, 2019

On Friday, September 27, the U.S. Military Veterans of Columbia University (MilVets) hosted Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF) for a not-yet-released screening of The Report, directed by Scott Burns, starring Adam Driver and Annette Bening. 183 veterans and their guests from across Columbia University and neighboring schools such as Vassar, Fordham, Pace, BMCC, and NYU attended the film screening, followed by a panel and Q&A moderated by Erica Newhouse, AITAF’s Program Director.

Panelists included veteran filmmaker and AITAF intern Brian Lepak, The Report’s producer and co-founder of Vice News, Eddy Moretti, and surprise guest Daniel Jones, former Senate Intelligence Committee Staffer and FBI agent, portrayed by Adam Driver, who led the investigation and produced “The Torture Report” of which the film was about.

“The event was fantastic. AITAF treated us very well and Daniel Jones being on the panel was a pretty cool surprise. We had such a great turn out of vets too! AITAF events go above and beyond,” said Ashton DeFusco, military veteran and GS film studies student.

The event was co-sponsored by Amazon Studios, Arts in the Armed Forces, MilVets, the Columbia University Center for Veteran Transition and Integration, and the Columbia University School of General Studies.
