The School of General Studies, which boasts the highest percentage of international students among the undergraduate colleges at Columbia, received a $2 million endowment gift from a new friend of the School, William W. Strong. The gift will be used to provide scholarships for international students who hold a foreign passport and require a student visa.

“We are so grateful to Mr. Strong for making these funds available for our international students who frequently have a more difficult time financing their education because they do not have access to US government grants and loans," said Sandra K. Roberts, Director of Development for the School of General Studies.

“Thankfully we can provide support for these students who do so much to enrich our student body.”
