Peter J. Awn, dean of Columbia University School of General Studies, has announced that Glenn Novarr has joined the GS team in the Dean’s Office.
Mr. Novarr has assumed the newly created position of Assistant to the Dean for Special Projects and Veteran Affairs. He comes to GS after a dozen years teaching at The Spence School. Glenn Novarr earned his BA from Cornell in English literature, an MA in Political Philosophy from Princeton, and a JD from Harvard.
"Glenn will be engaged with multiple projects critical to GS students," Awn said. "Given his broad educational background and work experience, he is particularly well suited to this position."
Mr. Novarr’s time will be spent acting as liaison to the Veterans’ Affairs Network for students who are attending GS on the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. He will also work closely with students interested in applying for major fellowships like the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Luce, and Fulbright, et. al.
Additionally, he will also collaborate with Dean Awn on fundraising, especially by helping to manage current relationships with a number of foundations, and exploring possibilities for engaging other foundations in GS-related projects and student support. He will also assist Dean Victoria Rosner on projects related to academic affairs and collaborate with the senior staff on special projects as they arise.
