The School of General Studies honored one of its artistic own, alumna Kristi Zea, GS '74, at the GS Annual Dinner on April 13.
Zea is a film producer and director who has worked on such blockbusters as Philadelphia, Silence of the Lambs, and As Good As it Gets. At the dinner, longtime colleague and friend Jonathan Demme, director of Silence of the Lambs and Philadelphia, introduced Zea to GS students, friends, faculty and administrators with an affectionate tribute. As GS Dean Peter Awn noted, "Columbia has traditionally been an intellectual home for dancers, writers, musicians, painters, filmmakers, sculptors-talented individuals from every field of artistic expression-who seek the very best in undergraduate education."
Proceeds will go towards the establishment of new scholarships for GS students in the arts.
