Position Description
The School of General Studies is seeking a student to work as a communications assistant, providing general support to the professional team that manages the School's communications to prospective, admitted, and current GS students, including the Postbac Premed Program, the Dual BA Program Between Columbia University and Sciences Po, The Dual BA Program between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University, and the Joint Degree Program between Columbia University and City University of Hong Kong.

This position offers the potential to acquire widely-applicable skills, and is an excellent professional opportunity for students interested in a career in communications or related fields.

Responsibilities include:

  • Posting events and opportunities of interest to students through various channels
  • Assisting in preparation of bi-weekly student newsletters
  • Monitoring and posting to social media channels
  • Making minor updates to website content
  • Writing and editing short news stories for the website as needed

Position Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to work in a small-team environment
  • Familiarity with various types of social media a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs a plus

Time Commitment
Part-time (10-20 hours per week during the academic year, with the possibility to work up to 30 hours during the summer)

Compensation
$16.75 per hour (work-study or casual)
