After the devastating earthquake in Haiti last January, GS alumnus René Aubry ’93 sprang into action to help his home country. Within two days, the Denise Haiti Disaster Relief was born. The new organization sent a group of doctors to Port-au-Prince, coordinated the delivery of medical supplies, and established volunteer housing and a base to do its work.

One year later, René continues his commitment to Haiti and its people. He recently formed a socially responsible venture fund, Ciel Capital Partners, LLC, whose mission it is to significantly increase the number of knowledge-based, value-added jobs in Haiti. Ciel seeks to invest in thriving Haitian companies that are aiming to expand and grow their top-lines and partner with foreign companies that are interested in moving components of their operations to Haiti. The fund will establish opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and hospitality.
