Columbia Scientist Gordon Jacoby Jr. '62 Passes Away

GS alumnus Gordon Jacoby Jr.

Alumnus Gordon Jacoby Jr. '62, a leading dendrochronologist who co-founded the Columbia University Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Tree-Ring Lab, passed away on October 1 in Raphine, Virginia. He was 80 years old. 

According to the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory's website, Jacoby transferred to GS to study geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He continued his education at Columbia and earned his Ph.D. in hydrology in 1971.
