GS Mentors Program

Student Life| Leadership Development| GS Mentor Program

The GS Mentor Program pairs specially trained continuing GS students with incoming GS students on the basis of several criteria including majors, interests, and background.  Mentors meet with their mentees at regular intervals throughout their first semester to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Assist students as they adjust to Columbia and college life in general by providing general advice, assistance, and support by sharing personal transition experiences.
  • Assist students in developing social networks throughout the Columbia community via social events, university functions, club meetings, etc.
  • Provide information and resources for becoming involved in extra-curricular clubs, organizations, activities, and sports.
  • Provide guidance to students in starting initiatives, projects, charities, etc.

If you are interested in being matched with a mentor please complete the GS Mentor Interest Form.

For the Spring 2018 semester, mentees are paired on a rolling basis, however we encourage incoming students to complete the GS Mentor Interest Form by Friday, February 2 to be paired in time for the GS Mentors Mixer in early February.
