GS Mentor Program

GS Mentor Program

The GS Mentor Program pairs specially trained continuing GS students with incoming GS students on the basis of several criteria including majors, interests, and background. Mentors meet with their mentees at regular intervals throughout their first semester to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Assist students as they adjust to Columbia and college life in general by providing general advice, assistance, and support by sharing personal transition experiences
  • Assist students in developing social networks throughout the Columbia community via social events, University functions, club meetings, etc.
  • Provide information and resources for becoming involved in extra-curricular clubs, organizations, activities, and sports
  • Provide guidance to students in starting initiatives, projects, charities, etc.

Incoming Students

If you are interested in being matched with a mentor please complete the GS Mentor Interest Form.

Returning Students

If you are interested in becoming a mentor please complete the Spring 2019 GS Mentors Program: Mentor Application.

For the Spring 2019 semester, mentees are paired on a rolling basis, however incoming students are encouraged to complete the GS Mentor Interest Form by Monday, February 4. to be paired in time for the GS Mentors Mixer in early February.
