Riano, whose new book Marriage Equality: From Outlaws to In-Laws presents the definitive history of same-sex marriage equality in the United States, offering a history of American families, faiths, and fundamental legal and constitutional change in the last half century. Co-authored with Professor William Eskridge of Yale Law School, the book is forthcoming from Yale University Press in August 2020. Riano '07GS is the incoming Executive Director of the Center for Civic Education, the nation's largest and most prestigious constitutional law and civic education organization dedicated to promoting an enlightened and responsible citizenry committed to democratic principles and actively engaged in the practice of civic virtue both in America and around the globe. Previously, he served as Assistant Counsel to the Governor of New York for Education, Arts, and Constitutional Law, as the General Counsel for the New York State Liquor Authority, as an Administrative Law Judge for New York State, as a Partner at Drohan Lee LLP, and he was the Founder and CEO of The Riano Group, LLC.
