Position Description
The Ultrasound Elasticity Imaging Laboratory (UEIL) at Columbia University is seeking a laboratory assistant who can help us with our ultrasound data acquisition and processing at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University in a lab that works on developing novel, ultrasound-based techniques for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications—in an effort to develop a clinical imaging device to non-invasively diagnose breast cancer more accurately and reliably than existing diagnostic techniques.
This position is ideal for candidates looking to help with a research project (starting immediately) over the summer and fall semesters.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with small animal studies
- Performing data acquisition using a custom-made ultrasound device
- Performing signal and image processing on the acquired data
- Organizing and maintaining data and files for a parametric study
Position Requirements
- Must be a currently-enrolled Columbia student
- Interest in wet lab experiments a plus
- Proficiency in computer programming in MATLAB a plus
Time Commitment
Part-time: 6-8 hours/day, 2-3 days/week (during working hours) over the summer and fall terms
