Position Description
The Art and Music for Healing program at Mount Sinai is seeking volunteers. The Music for Healing program is committed to enhancing the patient experience through Music.
Responsibilities include:
- Using music to lift the spirits of their hospitalized patients and their loved ones
- Visiting patients at the bedside playing jazz, classical music or singing and playing upbeat contemporary music
- Offering brief supportive conversation
- Playing at "Tea Time" for a group of patients
- Bringing art cart and and making art with patients as a way to connect; projects often include origami, making paper flowers, painting, collaging, making cards, finger knitting and decorating the room
Position requirements:
- Must be creative and sensitive
- Must enjoy sharing music and art and want to make a difference in others' lives
Time-commitment
Four hours per week, with a minimum commitment of six months.
