Position Description
The CUIMC Emergency Medicine Research Intern Program is seeking interns to join their program which consists of providing basic clinical research educational experience for pre-health professionals, provides hands-on training to gain research-related skills and exposes pre-health professionals to an acute clinical setting.
Responsibilities Include
- Attending study-related training sessions and workshops held by supervising Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs)
- Obtaining and retaining study-related information that allows RIs to accurately screen, pre-consent and enroll potentially eligible patients with supervising CRC
- Educating patients on the benefits and risks of participating in clinical research
- Collaborating and communicating with research and clinical staff
- Ensuring that compliance, patient confidentiality, and ethical obligations are met
- Interacting with Principal Investigators (PIs) and other departments by attending program-exclusive lectures, health fairs, training, workshops, etc.
- Observing patient care with clinical staff while on shift in Pediatric ER or Adult ER
Position Requirements
- Must be a post-baccalaureate and/or pre-health student
Time Commitment
Part-time, one to two 5-hour shifts per week and one overnight shift per semester with a one-year commitment.
