Position Description
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Technician B with a background in biological research to join a research lab that conducts research into malaria. The technician will play a key role in a drug pipeline designed to test the efficacy of novel antimalarials on cultured Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasites.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting parasite culture work
- Performing molecular and biochemistry projects
- Analyzing and preparing data
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training and experience
- Must have undergraduate university course work in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology or genetics
- Research experience and technical proficiency in molecular biology and/or cell culture a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time starting in July 2020 with a two-year commitment
