Past Full-time, Paid, Research Technician B, Microscopy March 17, 2021 Posted Wed., Feb. 3 Position Description The Taub Center at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a research technician. Responsibilities include: Conducting molecular biology experiments, cell culture, mouse husbandry and genotyping. Assisting with general maintenance of the lab, organization and ordering of shared resources Preparing slice cultures, reagents, and plan for the availability of resources. Carrying out various molecular biology assays, e.g. DNA/RNA prep, PCR, immunohistochemistry. Assisting with ordering and tracking of laboratory supplies, general lab organization and upkeep, re-stocking common reagents and solutions, and maintaining lab data. Proactively contributing towards the scientific environment, including detailed note taking and recording of results, is necessary. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience. Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques a plus. One year of related experience a plus. Experience with neuroscience techniques such as neuronal cultures, fluorescent imaging, or physiology a plus. Time Commitment Full-time, with weekend work as needed.
