Position Description
New York Medical & Surgical Eye Care, PLLC is a private ophthalmologist's office located in mid-town Manhattan seeking an ophthalmic technician. While the ideal candidate would already be a certified ophthalmic assistant or technician, they are also willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate as they work toward certification.
Responsibilities Include:
- Taking medical histories from patients, dilating their eyes to prepare them for exams, providing instructions on how to use contacts, eye drops, and post-surgery medications
- Assisting the ophthalmologist my performing the following: checking vision, administering visual fields, taking external and fundus photos, OCT, and IOL-master
- Informing the ophthalmologist about changes to a patient's visual acuity and other vision issues
- Utilizing tools such as a Humphrey field analyzer and OCT to take eye measurements
Position Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Chinese
- Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills
Time Commitment
Full-time (approx. 32 hours per week)
Compensation
$19-$23 per hour
