It is during the Commencement ceremony that your degree is officially conferred. All of Columbia’s 17 schools participate in this event. The Commencement speaker is traditionally the president of Columbia. The ceremony includes awards to honorary degree recipients and outstanding Columbia teachers. If it rains, Commencement still takes place outside.
Watch Class Day and Commencement
The ceremony will be webcast live, as well as archived, on the webcast page of the Columbia Commencement website. Video recordings of the Class Day ceremony event will be available on Columbia University’s YouTube and iTunes U channels. Videos are expected to be up on YouTube and iTunes U 24-48 hours after the event concludes.
