GS Academic Calendar 2012-2013

The following Academic Calendar was correct and complete when compiled; however, the University reserves the right to revise or amend it, in whole or in part, at any time. Fall Term 2012

AUGUST

1

Wednesday. Last day to apply or reapply for degrees or certificates to be awarded in October.

Wednesday. Last day for international students to apply for admission to General Studies for Spring 2012 enrollment.

Monday. Mandatory Orientation for entering undergraduate students and Postbaccalaureate Premedical students.

27–31

Monday–Friday. New Student Orientation Week.

28–30

Tuesday–Thursday. Registration, including payment of fees. Students who register after these dates must pay a late fee.

SEPTEMBER

Monday. Labor Day. University holiday.

4

Tuesday. Classes begin for the 259th academic year.

4–7, 10–14

Tuesday–Friday, Monday–Friday. Late registration and change of program online.

Spring-term deferred examination dates (by petition and approval only).

Friday.

  • Last day to make registration changes (add/drop courses) for the fall term.  Courses officially dropped by this date do not incur tuition charges.
  • Last day to uncover the mark of Pass for a spring- or summer-term course.

Sunday. Last day to enroll in, or request a waiver of, the Student Medical Insurance Plan.

OCTOBER

Major declaration month.
1 Monday. Last day to apply Early Action for admission to General Studies for Spring 2013 enrollment.

Tuesday. Last day to drop individual courses without incurring the mark of "W." Late drops must be approved by a student's advisor. Courses dropped by this deadline are charged at full tuition but do not appear on a student's transcript.
15 Monday. Deadline for submitting the GS Study Abroad clearance form to the Dean of Students Office for students interested in studying abroad for the spring term

Wednesday. October degrees conferred.
18 Thursday. Midterm date.

Monday. Advising period for course registration for Spring 2013.

NOVEMBER

  • Senior thesis stipend applications due for fall-term and academic year senior projects.
  • Last day to submit completed study abroad registration form and course approval form to the Dean of Students Office for students intending to study abroad in the spring term.

22-25

Thursday–Sunday. Thanksgiving holidays. University holidays 11/22 and 11/23.

DECEMBER

1 Saturday. Last day to apply or reapply for degrees to be awarded at May graduation ceremonies.

  • First nine-week summer session begins.
  • Twelve-week summer session begins.
29-6/3 Wednesday–Monday. Change of Program and Late Registration. Students who register after these dates will be assessed an additional fee.

Summer Term 2013

JUNE

12 Friday. Last day to make registration changes (add/drop courses) for the first six-week session of the summer term. Courses officially dropped by this date do not incur tuition charges.
